This publication examines four A4 posters designed by MJS (Markus Jura Suisse) between 1978 and 1980. The cover has been silk-screen printed using leftover inks and comes in five different colors (in our bookshop you can find in blue and green). It is supplemented with an A2 offset reproduction of the four posters in the middle.

It was typeset according to a stamp that MJS produced in 1978. Each word has been manually laid out one by one. All of the pages come with variations of layouts inspired by his collage process blending original documents with content produced for the publication.

It is part of the investigative project "Um gegen angelerntes Leben zu sein" ("Against the Trained Life"), supervised by Sean Yendrys and Matthew Stuart.

Between 1979-1992 Performance Magazine documented an extraordinary period in the development of art in the UK.

With its maverick and punk ethos Performance Magazine embodied an immensely active community of artists, writers and publics that crossed disciplines throughout the late 70s, 80s and the start of the 90s.

The magazine provided a vital platform for the awareness of new approaches to the making and experience of art by creating a critical context and space for discourse. Moving beyond Performance Art and conventional categorisation Performance Magazine was instrumental in promoting cross-disciplinary and underground art and played an important role in triggering the development of Live Art as a terminology and field of creative practice.
